Hello hello!  Just wanted to keep in touch to let you know that things are in order, but just have been rather busy, so haven’t had the time to blog!!!  But I have missed blogging!

Yay yay yay! Mum and I found my veil on Saturday, from Brides Selection at Leederville.  We received such awesome service, that made this visit so much more enjoyable!  They have a wide range of veils, ranging from $100-$600!  Yes all for a piece of net! Haha!  I like my veil, it’s quite pretty I think!  I have begin to realise that my decision making is becoming much quicker these days haha!  It also feels incredibly good to be able to tick things off the list… it’s like yay yippee hooray! :)

Since we were in the vicinity, we popped by Georgie’s Bridal Shoes, which was also in Leederville.  I had my doubts about going into a bridal shoe shop, as usually everything with the words “Bride, white, wedding…” means you were likely to be slapped with a huge price tag, just because they know they can!  I have not really placed a high priority on the shoes as they are not going to be as visible as everything else, plus what is important is that they are comfortable… so how about some sneakers???! Hehe! :)

Service was rather poor at this shop, so don’t expect receive much of it.  Infact, we were left alone for a bit too long even after the previous customer had left the shop!  Hmmm not impressive at all!  However, the shop itself was pretty nice, quite english and bridal like.  They have a lot of shoes for such a small shop, and one of the better ranges that I have seen!  I’m quite sure most brides would be able to find something they like in here, they have shoes ranging from low to high heel!

So here it is……….. well, I havent’ really decided yet if I’ll get it or not… this is an ivory satin shoe… with little sequins lining the whole shoe… not a very clear picture here… it is much much nicer in real life!  Very elegant, I reckon!!! :)  I will be exactly 9cm taller with this!  Haha!  It is actually not too uncomfortable at all – much better than the one I previously tried at another boutique!

What do you think?  Or do you reckon bridal crocs will be better?  Haha!

Of Our Lives… is 126 days away!  With each wedding that we have attended this year, it is almost like a count down to ours!  This morning I woke up and realised today was the last wedding of the year in ZPH… and next would be ours! :)

A wedding is the biggest party we will probably ever have in our lives!  When else would you spend nearly a year preparing and spend thousands of dollars??? It’s like a full on production!  But you know what, we always remind ourselves not to be too caught up in the logistics of it all… it is so easy to get caught up in spreadsheets, checklists, going from one supplier to another, at times, you can almost become very mechanical about it all!

Instead, we remember that our wedding is a party of love, a party for our friends and family, a time of celebration and a time to remember His goodness in our lives.  We want everyone to have a wonderful time and to be a part of this important day! :)   We hope we get to shake all your hands next year, to give you a hug and to thank you for taking the time to share the day with us :)   In the event we don’t get to, please know that we would have wanted to and that we do thank you very much and am very honoured that you were there! :)

I was just telling A the other night that I actually really am enjoying planning this wedding!  Haha!  Sometimes it gets a bit tough, but then once you solve the “puzzle”, it is very satisfying :)   It’s like “Yes!!! I solved it!” I probably sound a bit nuts, but when I have thought about something from every possible angle and then find theright conclusion, it is such a good feeling!  Haha!  The downside is that I often think too much and from way too many angles :)

Okay, so to summarise what has been bubbling away since my last entry:

Invites:  Thank you NT!  We are nearly there!  She is super awesome – so patient and kind and generous with her time.  Thank you for sharing the same passion as us with the invites :)   The invite is the sneak preview to the wedding :)   Yes yes yes, invites are nearly at the printers :)   Aiming for a christmas completion haha!

Cake:  Yay!!!  It is going to be this multi-tiered pretty cake! :)   I cannot wait for it!  Although I love baking and cooking, I also love the fact that someone is going to bake our wedding cake!  It’s like your own personal designer dress – except this one is eatible! :)   Thank you to Kakes by Karen for being so accomodating and patient and who has such a wonderful sense of ”chirpiness” in her, we had such a great time tasting the cakes and talking with her!   She is making my cake dream come true! :)

Menu Selection:  We could not be more pleased with Fraser’s!  God has been so good to send us such awesome people… really, having great suppliers to work with has made this wedding planning journey so much more enjoyable!  We are nearly done with our menu section.  We had our second tasting with our parents a couple of weekends ago haha!

Photography:  Hehehe for those who have been waiting to see our engagement photos by Jenny Sun, they are not ready yet!  I think we’ll be getting them in the next couple of weeks!  I’ll post a few of them up here!  So stay tuned!

Okies, hope you had a great weekend!  I had an awesome weekend……. so peaceful and relaxed (I even managed 2 loads of laundry, and cleaned my room.. yay!) – :)

Talk soon!!! :)

David Austin Roses

Yay!!!  We have sorted out the flowers for the wedding!  One of the major things ticked off the list!  This morning, we headed to our florist at Brooksdale to finalise the roses.  I was madly looking through some magazines this morning to see if there were any flowers or arrangements that would just POP out at me!  Haha!  But there wasn’t anything that stood out, so I decided to stick with my original floral thoughts.

I have to admit I had a good time at the florist.  Wanda is so organised and just positive and truthful!  With over 20 years of experience and her confidence and yet honesty, we just knew we could trust her taste and her quality of work!

Till I actually organised my own flowers, I never appreciated how much detail and time goes into wedding flowers – nowadays I appreciate everything about a wedding when I attend one :)   I feel I owe it to the bride and groom!

The above flowers are David Austin Roses, that no, I am not having, but I took a picture of at her studio – dont they look lovely!  Lucky I didn’t request for them as she said that it was hard to guarantee their quality and also their arrival due to the poor weather in Tasmania!  I have to admit the more I looked at them, the more these David Austins grew on me! :)

These are my Mum’s and my favourite type of lillies!  I LOVE the pink, the fullness and vibrancy that these petals shout out at you! :)   Wanda is going to put some of these flowers in some of the decorations and centrepieces.  I can’t wait to see the flowers on the day!  The flowers of our bouquets and table centre pieces are going to be awesome!  Whooohoo! :)   Fresh floral arrangements on each table!!! :)   We want to create this relaxed, fresh and yet pretty (ok that’s more me!) and romantic atmosphere!

I hope there is going to be enough flowers.  Looking at the 2 full pages of notes on the flowers that she wrote down, it looks like a lot… but on the way back, I still told A I hope there was going to be enough flowers…. anyway to my hayfever friends out there, perhaps you should take some anti-histamines on the 27 March 2010!  Hahaha! Just incase!

Next week… THE day for our Wedding Cake…… ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! :)

Why do girls love flowers?

I googled that question before I started this entry… it’s a question that guys ask all the time and even I myself wonder why I love flowers!  Google didnt provide much info!  However, I know that whilst many may think it is a waste of money, and no matter how much a girl protests that flowers are a waste of money,  I am so sure even the most practical girl is secretly very pleased, flattered and at that moment feels incredibly special!!!

Anyway… so weddings are always full of flowers… ah ha!  This weekend we are seeing our florist, Wanda from Romance Roses, to decide on the wedding flowers.  I keep telling myself, I must not go nuts over the flowers!  Haha!

In the past few days, I have been madly researching here and there for the types of flowers and bouquet styles… I think it’s one of those things when you see it, you know it!  Anyhow, hope I see it in time for Sunday!  (By the way, check out flower websites that I just found under the “Links” – might be useful for you brides out there!)

Here are some styles, colours and types of flowers that I am considering…

Pink Lisianthus

The above are pink lisianthus…  Hmmm quite nice, quite sweet and soft!

Pink Roses & Lisianthus

These are pink lisianthus and roses!  These colours are incredibly sweet!

And my centre pieces… ahhh these need to be carefully considered… we bought all the vases the other day (well done to A who found them!) and will leave it in the hands of our capable florist to come up with something very pretty, and also to add lots of lovely colour and fun to the reception venue!

I’m not sure about this exact arrangement – but I found the colour very eye catching!!! :)

Centrepiece flowers?

chaircover

Yay!!!  We have finalised our chaircovers tonight!  Okay, excuse the poor photo – it was taken in poor lighting and on our iPhone, but yay one more thing done! It is a pale pink satin bow :)   (We have been advised against going for a stronger pink – x250 bows, it can be rather overwhelming!!!)

We met with the 3 bigger chair cover companies in Perth, being Touched by an Angel, Wedding World and Flamingo Surprise.  In the end, we decided to go with Flamingo Surprise!  They are based in East Victoria Park.  They do many of the weddings and functions in Perth, and often do the functions at Fraser’s.  The bonus is they do after hours consultation, which is really helpful!

So whilst I often find it hard to get my head around that we will be spending THAT much on chair covers…. we couldnt think of doing it any other way!  So hope you enjoy your seats! Hahaha!!!  And know that the colour of the bow, the way it was tied and everything about it was carefully considered before we said “yes” to Flamingo Surprise! :)

cupcake bouquet

OH my goodness! How awesome are these!!!!!!!!!  They are from Martha Stewart’s Weddings.

Check out the below cupcake bouquet.. ahhhhh…… how cool would they be!!! Actually, now I really want to make them (for fun!)!!! Okay, one of the things to trial on my growing list of projects, haha!!! :)

PINKFLOWERS

When blogging, I always wonder how much I should reveal?  In the event you are a reader of our blog (and thank you if you are! :) ) and also a guest at the wedding, I would like to keep some surprises for you!  Haha!  Yes, for example even if it’s the design of our wedding invite! So bear with me and I’ll try to give out as much detail as I can… :)

Anyway, last week we were meant to receive another sample of our invite from Singapore but it must be lost in transit! :(   So they are going to send another copy by registered post … so hopefully we will receive it this week.  Hahaha you should have seen me, checking the mailbox every day in hope that it would arrive! :P

NT has designed the draft format and design of our invite – cool cool and thanks thanks! :)   Your patience and your promises are truly remembered (I can always count on NT to keep to her word!), thank you! So yes this will be the main thing in progress for the next 2 weeks!!!

Thanks to my Di-ee who found our wedding cake boxes!  It is SO pretty!!! :)   I love it! :) *haha I bet you can guess what it sorta looks like!*

I love how couples add their own personal touches to the weddings, the blogs I read are really amazing and everything is so cute, and pretty and just beautiful! I was thinking there is SO many things one can do for their wedding reception – which is this one in the life time massive, extravagent party! We’ll try our best to sneak in personal touches here and there.

Talking about personal touches, I wanted cupcake bouquets for each table! Yes cupcake bouquets – eatible pretty stuff! I didnt think it existed but yep google says it does!

But even I, who likes to bite too big a piece of the cake realised that this would be truly quite insane! I have thought about baking way in advance, freezing the stuff, and the week prior to the wedding to do my decoration, but with our extensive guest list, it is going to be a monster of a job, and I think I might add up crying and pulling my hair out. However, I still haven’t totally dismissed the idea… :P We’ll see what we can play with! :P

So what’s coming up in November?

Have to decide on 2 of my favourite things… FLOWERS & CAKE! :) I better start doing some intense research…!!! :) I love flowers, and I cannot believe how much it is all going to cost us, but I dont think anything can replace them on such a special day! :) There is such life, warmth and cheer in each bloom! :) Now I just need to make decisions!!! :)

Today was a taste of what it will be like on our wedding day – no wonder people take a week’s leave before the Big Day!  Rising at 4.50am this morning was NO JOKE – I was awake even before the alarm rang, in fear I would miss the alarm and be late :P

The day was actually pretty good for photos – I was worried that it would rain as there was quite a heavy overcast – but Praise God it did not rain and probably worked out well as we did not have to squint to shield our eyes from the sunshine.

I’ll keep this one short, as I have no photos to entertain you with – but check in about 6 weeks time and hopefully we will have some photos to blog up!

So here are some of our thoughts from today’s shoot:

  • A few friends asked about Jenny Sun (JS)!  How was she like?!  Yes true enough, JS is exactly like her blog!!! The happy, chirpy cheery person!
  • We had a great time – the 2 hours just flew by so quickly!  JS made us feel totally comfortable by chatting with us the whole way through, so we felt totally natural!
  • We will not see Freo in the same light again!  It’s very different seeing it through the eyes of a photographer!  It was JS’ first time in Perth but she spotted some really cool spots that I would never have even looked at twice!
  • First time having spanish doughnuts and the thickest and richest mocha ever! (Check out San Churro next time you’re in Freo!)  Yes we had a shoot here! Yippee totally us – cafe, food, and my craze to find good quality chocolate!
  • JS shoots really quickly – so that was great!  It actually is a great thing if you’re not a model and not used to standing infront of a camera – less time to feel awkward :P
  • A wore an awesome jacket – :)   Glad we finally found IT!

It was a great experience – whilst I dont think my calling in life is to be a model, I’m glad to have met someone who has found her calling in life :)   and yet so real and humble in every sense.  As A puts it, you get the nice feel that she is taking your wedding pics as a friend.  That’s the real difference between a great photographer and someone who just takes pictures – the connection, the warmth and the feeling that this person is part of your wedding journey.

Okay this is getting LONGER than anticipated… hahaha I can’t help it once I start typing!  But best get ready for bed – it has been a VERY long day *yawn*  Stay tuned for the photos!!! :)

P.S. Flowergirl dresses have arrived! Yay!  Will check it out tomorrow and see what our little princess will be wearing!!! :)

I wonder if it’s psychological or does your mind and body play a trick on you – but as our pre-wedding shoot draws closer, I feel hungrier… at the time when perhaps one should be more conscious about eating less, I feel like eating more! :)

Tonight I declared at dinner, that it was TOO LATE – the pre wedding shoot is next week (I’ll be sure to post up some thoughts on that next week!) – and I should not be too hard on myself hahahaha!  To be honest, I haven’t really been hard on myself – as my sister said tonight, I seem to have many “exceptions” to my eating plan! Haha!

There is something so wonderful about carbs… every bride’s enemy and yet comfort at the same time :)  Very funny but tonight I actually felt like I just wanted to go for it – I started to scoop some rice then decided no, once I taste a bit of the rice, there will be no turning back – so I left the spoon on the table.  Perhaps guilty also from tonight’s chocolate tasting :)

Nevermind, still 5 months or so to go… next week the gym plan really needs to start – why is life getting so busy these days?!!!

Next Tuesday apparently has a shower or two… praying praying it will not be in the morning (Yes – our pre wedding shoot is at 7AM – which means waking up about 430am/5am to get hair and make up done – Yikes yikes yikes!)… anyway so excited to meet Jenny Sun – I find her work so inspirational, beautiful and pretty – makes me excited about life!

You should check out her latest work here… it is amazing… I love the special touch that she has in her photos – it’s hard to describe, you must look to understand! :)

Whooohooo!!!  We are finally making some progress with our wedding invites!  *claps*  Don’t ask me why, but this seems to be taking so long – it has taken even longer thinking time than my own wedding dress!

I think it is to do with the fact that you need to visualise the colours, the paper texture etc!  Whilst with a dress, you either like it or you don’t!  What makes it harder is that we found this invitation company in Singapore to do our invites (they are called American Treasures – they don’t have a website but if you want their details let me know!), so all queries and correspondence is via email.  They have this type of invite that we don’t think we can buy here! :)   (but in saying that perhaps I havent looked hard enough! Haha!)  They have been great with sending us invite samples but with the snail mail, we have to wait a week each time to receive them.  They are extremely efficient in replying emails – in true Singaporean style – very fast and even at 11pm at night!

This was a wedding weekend for us… we went to a wedding yesterday morning, then I went to look at wedding gowns with E (for her wedding!), then we met up with our invite and stationery design artist, NT and our dear wedding coordinators G & E for dinner.

Thanks NT for being so lovely and patient whilst we figure out what we want!  Hope we have not created too much work for you! :)   I am so excited to get all our stationery done!

Our inspiration comes from these two awesome Perth companies called Wren Press and Mailbox Designs.  Their designs are so classic – so simple, elegant and just pretty!

Just to liven up this post… see pictures of our coffee & chips at Royal Bar yesterday (one of my favourite restaurants in Perth!!!)
